All of our service is paid for by the host company – you as a participant will not have to pay for anything.
All you have to pay is the flight, the embassy interview fee and in some cases necessary translations.
The prices for airline tickets are changing but every year there are lots of round trip tickets between 300 and 700 Euro per person.
Administrative fee Travel2work € 180.00
Embassy Interview Fee $ 160 (depending on the exchange rate usually around € 140)

What is a US Country Club?
A country club is a private club in a park like set up. It is surrounded by houses and offers sporting, recreational and hospitality facilities. The sportive activities are mainly golf and tennis. Most country clubs have high membership fees (dues) and selective entrance requirements. Therefore most members of country clubs are part of the higher middle or upper class and are mainly over 60 years of age.
The restaurant operations are busy offering leisure activities, theme nights, buffet and a la carte dinners. The Food & Beverage operation of a country club has a very high standard and offers high quality food and excellent service. A training in the F&B department of a country club is an exciting experience.
The pay system
How are participants getting paid?
In cooperation with our host companies we have developed a pay-system that is slightly similar to the European system. Every participant receives a stipend as compensation for their on-the-job training.
In most cases that stipend is for 40 hours per week at the regular hourly rate of 9-10 Dollars. If you spend more time at the host company you will be compensated at time and a half that rate – in this case 13.50-15 Dollars per hour for hours over 40 per week.
Depending on your host company you will have a minimum guarantee of hours to ensure that you have enough money to support yourself.
Out of your stipend you will have to pay for the cost of your housing. A set amount of $ 145.00 will be taken out of your pay check every week to cover the cost of rent, furniture, electricity, water, internet, …
You can read more about this under „Housing“.
Attention: Please be aware that in the USA you are not going to be paid for sick days or requested time off.
Example of a work week:
Trainee XY has worked 40 hours last week.
He/She now receives a check for:
40 x $ 10.00 = $ 400.00
– 10% income tax = $ 40.00
Net income = $ 360.00
– Housing cost = $ 145.00
Your money = $ 215.00
We are organizing shared apartments for all our participants. These apartments secured complexes and are all very well equipped.
In general we are renting 3 bedroom/2 bathroom apartments that are home to 6 interns or trainees. This means you are sharing a room with another person. The apartment complex all feature swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym and some even offer tennis courts. You can use all this amenities for free.
We are renting furniture for you and arrange for electricity and Internet to be installed in the apartments. You can find out more about the cost of housing under „Cost“
If you have any questions regarding the housing of our participants please feel free to contact us.
Application for a US program – How do I get started?
We will need your English CV with a recent picture of you.
Picture – please present yourself in a professional manner.
We will send you a short questionnaire to get an idea of your English skills
We will arrange a time for a telephone interview with Travel2work
Once we have proof of your eligibility for the J-1 visa and you fullfil our entry requirements, we are going to present you CV to our clients in the USA.
Once a client has aproved your CV and wants to interview you we will arrange a time for a face to face or Skype interview.
After you have passed the interview and receive an offer letter, we can start the visa application process. To get started we will need several documents from you.
We will send your documents to the visa sponsoring agency and once completed, the agency will issue your visa papers. This process is the most expensive part and the host company pays the visa sponsor their fee of up to 2200 Dollars.
The agency delivers the visa documents to you by UPS/Fed Ex.
You will have to fill out an online form for the embassy and pay the inteview fee to the embassy.
The last step in getting your visa is the interview at the embassy in your home country. Once completed the embassy keeps your passport, issues the visa and sends the passport and visa to you within 5 business days.
Before you leave we will invite you to a „pre-departure orientation“ where you get to meet your new colleagues and the people you are probably going to room with. We will also talk about things to come and give you useful tipps.
Last but not least book your flight and cross the Atlantic.
Do I have to pay for my visa?
No, the cost of your visa including health & accident insurance is entirely covered by the host company. The company is investing this money in you as a future part of the operation. You will not have to pay back anything unless you end your program due to any accident/hardship or family or health related issue.
If you do end your program out of no obvious reason you will have to pay back a share of the cost of your visa, depending on the time you have spend with the host company.
We strongly advise you to only apply for our program if you are 100% certain that you are able to stay away from home for 7 – 12 months. The host company is relying on you to train at their operation and there are many people applying for thes positions. It would be a shame if you take somebodies place if you don´t really want to do it.
The administrative fee and the embassy interview fee are non-refundable.
Documents for the visa:
The list of necessary documents for the visa application will be sent to you by email. Due to changes in regulations we are sending out the up-to-date list once a candidate has been aproved.
Health & Accident Insurance
The visa sponsoring agency who is issuing your visa is required to include a basic insurance with every J-1 visa. This is a requirement by the Department of State of the USA. You will receive copy of the insurance policy with your visa documents.
We are offering you the chance to live and train in the USA for up to 12 months without the hassle of organizing your entire trip yourself. All you have to do is hopp on a plane and cross the Atlantic ocean.
Nothings a coincidence. We have years of experience organizing setting up care-free foreign exchange programs that you can benefit from.
Comfortable atmosphere & support
„Service makes the difference“ is our credo and applies not only to our clients but also our participants. Throughout our years in business we walked the „extra mile“ many times and have gone above and beyond to over assistance and support other companies do not offer.
